Wombwell Shepherd’s Huts

Beautifully crafted with technical excellence
and exceptional attention to detail

Traditionally, shepherd huts were constructed on farms with whatever spare materials were lying around – usually wood and iron. They were used to provide shepherds with an essential living and resting space whilst they were away from home, tending to their flock.

At J D Wombwell & Son, we build our wonderfully contemporary shepherd huts to suit modern day life, whilst maintaining the essence and feel for their Victorian origin.

Shepherd huts serve as an ‘extra room’; an artist’s studio, an office garden, a fishing hut, for glamping in style or simply as somewhere quiet and cosy to sit and read a book. They have the unique feature of being able to suit an array purposes.

The huts are built upon the frames of early twentieth century four-wheel hay trailers, which makes them larger than the smaller traditional shepherd huts, thus providing more space to enjoy.

We will build your bespoke hut to your requirements, or you can choose from one of our own beautiful designs. We create our huts to order and to suit your needs. Perhaps you might like a wood burning stove, a bunk bed or a particularly luxurious sauna! We can make your hut as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Part of the fun is designing layouts, colours, styles etc.
